Job Description
African Parks Network Ethiopia is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Senior Finance Officer to support the organization’s financial management operations.

The Senior Finance Officer will assist the Finance Manager in overseeing daily accounting and financial activities while ensuring compliance with organizational policies and donor regulations.

The role involves supporting financial planning, monitoring budgets, managing donor compliance requirements, and ensuring accurate financial reporting within the organization.

The successful candidate will also ensure that financial data is properly recorded within the African Parks financial system and that financial records meet audit and compliance standards.

This position plays a critical role in maintaining financial transparency and ensuring that resources are used efficiently to support conservation programs and organizational objectives.

The role also requires providing financial guidance to program teams and budget managers to ensure proper financial planning and implementation of project activities.

Educational Qualification
Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a recognized university.

Advanced education in finance and accounting is required to ensure that the candidate can effectively manage complex financial operations and reporting requirements.

Work Experience
Applicants must have at least six years of professional experience in finance or accounting roles.

Among this experience, at least four years must be in a similar field or position, preferably within an international organization or non-profit environment.

Experience working with non-profit or conservation organizations in Ethiopia will be considered an advantage.

Candidates with experience managing grants or working with major donors such as USAID, the European Union, United Nations agencies, or private foundations are highly preferred.

The role requires individuals who have strong experience in financial reporting, budgeting, compliance monitoring, and audit preparation.

Required Skills and Competencies
The Senior Finance Officer should demonstrate strong technical expertise in accounting and financial management systems.

Key knowledge areas include:

  • Accounting standards such as GAAP and IFRS
  • Experience with ERP financial systems

Job Location
The position is based in Gambella, Ethiopia.

The selected candidate will work closely with finance teams, program managers, and field staff to ensure effective financial management of conservation programs.

The role may require occasional travel to field sites for financial supervision and monitoring activities.
