Job Description:
The Security Investigator (Criminal Fraud Investigator) plays a key role within the Consular Section, working under the supervision of the Overseas Criminal Investigator (OCI). The incumbent conducts sensitive, complex, and high-profile investigations involving criminal activities such as counterfeit and forged travel documents, human trafficking, smuggling, identity theft, bribery, extortion, conspiracy, and terrorism-related offenses.

The role involves establishing and maintaining strong professional relationships with local law enforcement, immigration authorities, airport security, prosecutors, and other relevant stakeholders to facilitate investigations. The investigator also liaises with U.S. law enforcement agencies and attorneys to ensure coordination of international criminal investigations.

This position may involve supervising locally employed staff (LE Staff) when supporting criminal investigations and contributing to interagency requests that uphold national security interests. The Security Investigator operates under the direction of the OCI and, as needed, the Senior Regional Security Officer (RSO). Educational Qualification:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university is required. Fields of study should include Law, Law Enforcement, Security, International Relations, Politics, Criminal Justice, Forensics, or Police Science.

Work Experience:

Job Location:

  • Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
  • This is a full-time position with no telework options.

Employment Type and Salary:

  • Permanent position, indefinite appointment subject to successful completion of probationary period.
  • Full-time work schedule of 40 hours per week.
  • Salary: USD $22,239 per year.
  • Promotion potential: LE-10.
