Humanity & Inclusion (HI) is an independent aid organisation supporting people with disabilities and vulnerable populations affected by poverty, conflict, and disasters. In East Africa, HI implements programs in rehabilitation, mental health, inclusive education, protection, food security, and humanitarian mine action.
The Regional Business Development Specialist contributes to the East Africa program by designing, implementing, and monitoring fundraising strategies, identifying funding opportunities, and leading proposal development for donors, foundations, and private sector partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and monitor the regional fundraising strategy in alignment with HI’s operational strategy (StratOp).
- Map and track regional donor priorities, trends, and competitive opportunities.
- Strengthen HI’s visibility and influence with donors, partners, and networks.
- Lead the development of project proposals, concept notes, budgets, and MEAL plans.
- Coordinate multi-country and consortia proposals, ensuring alignment with technical and financial requirements.
- Train and coach country teams and partners in proposal writing, donor regulations, and CRM tools.
- Support internal communication and documentation of fundraising opportunities and best practices.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in development or humanitarian work.
- At least 3 years of business development experience, including donor engagement and proposal writing.
- Strong skills in financial planning, budgeting, and co-funding principles.
- Experience in developing SMART indicators and donor contract negotiation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for high-level external representation.
- Autonomous, flexible, and able to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Fluent in English and French.
Benefits:
- 24-month international contract starting 1st April 2026.
- Salary from €2,757 gross/month, depending on experience.
- Per diem: €489 net/month (Ethiopia), €645 net/month (Uganda), €606 net/month (Kenya).
- Hardship allowance: €250 net/month (Ethiopia).
- Paid leave: 25 days/year; R&R: Ethiopia – 5 days/3 months; Uganda/Kenya – 1 day/month.
