Job Purpose
Under the line management of the Protection Team Leader and technical supervision of the Case Management Specialist, the Protection Assistant will implement Protection Case Management (PCM) activities in Sheraro. The role focuses on providing direct case management services to survivors and vulnerable individuals affected by the crisis, while working closely with the DRC Tigray protection team and protection centers.
Key Responsibilities
Implement general protection case management activities in line with international standards and DRC guidelines
Identify and receive referrals and provide tailored case management services while ensuring safety, confidentiality, and informed consent
Conduct intake interviews, vulnerability screening, and comprehensive protection risk assessments
Develop individualized case and safety plans and provide follow-up support
Handle identification, assessment, planning, intervention, and case closure processes
Refer beneficiaries to relevant service providers and coordinate with partners
Engage with community structures and maintain regular contact with beneficiary communities
Support protection monitoring, data collection, analysis, and reporting
Maintain accurate case documentation, databases, and trackers
Participate in supervision sessions, case conferences, trainings, and team meetings
Carry out additional protection tasks as assigned by the Protection Manager
Experience and Technical Requirements
Minimum of 1–2 years experience in humanitarian protection or relevant social service roles
Mandatory experience working in the Tigray region
Experience in community-based protection activities
Strong understanding of protection principles, case management, and ethical data protection
Experience working with vulnerable individuals using age, gender, and diversity approaches
Strong planning, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and within a team under pressure
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; Kobo experience is an advantage
Education
University degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, Law, or a related field from a recognized institution
Language Requirements
Good proficiency in spoken and written English, Amharic, and Tigrinya
