Job Purpose
Under the line management of the Protection Team Leader and technical supervision of the Case Management Specialist, the Protection Assistant will implement Protection Case Management (PCM) activities, providing direct support to survivors and vulnerable individuals affected by crisis, in line with international standards and DRC guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
Implement protection case management activities in accordance with international standards and DRC protocols
Identify, receive referrals, and provide tailored case management services to individuals at protection risk
Conduct intake interviews, risk assessments, and develop individualized case and safety plans
Ensure confidentiality, informed consent, and adherence to ethical standards
Provide follow-up, referrals to service providers, and recommend case closure where appropriate
Maintain accurate documentation, case files, and protection data
Support protection monitoring, data collection, and reporting activities
Engage with community structures and partner organizations
Participate in supervision, case conferences, trainings, and team meetings
Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports
Experience and Technical Requirements
Minimum of 1 year experience in humanitarian protection or relevant social service field
Mandatory experience working in Tigray region
Experience in community-based protection activities
Strong understanding of protection principles, case management, and ethical data handling
Experience supporting vulnerable individuals using age, gender, and diversity approaches
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; Kobo experience is an asset
Education
University degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, Law, or a related field from a recognized institution
Language Requirements
Good proficiency in spoken and written English, Amharic, and Tigrinya
