Job Summary
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC), one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is seeking a highly motivated Protection Assistant – GBV Case Worker for its operations in the Dimma Field Office. Under the line management of the Protection Team Leader and with technical support from the Case Management Protection Specialist, the Protection Assistant – GBV Case Worker will implement gender-based violence (GBV) case management activities and provide direct services to GBV survivors and other crisis-affected beneficiaries.
The position works closely with the DRC Tigray Protection Team, including protection case management, community-based protection, legal protection teams, and supports activities within protection centers.
Key Responsibilities
GBV Case Management Services
Provide high-quality, confidential GBV case management services in line with minimum service standards and DRC case management SOPs. Conduct intake, assessment, planning, intervention, follow-up, and appropriate case closure using a survivor-centered approach. Provide counselling services to survivors referred to GBV case management.
Referral and Follow-Up
Conduct referrals to relevant services as required, implement action plans, and ensure appropriate follow-up and timely case closure. Identify gaps in GBV response services and referral pathways and report these to the GBV Officer and Coordinator.
Safe Spaces and Psychosocial Support
Conduct GBV case management in safe spaces identified in collaboration with survivors. Provide emotional support group sessions to women and girls at risk of or surviving gender-based violence in line with best practices and DRC guidelines.
Data Management and Confidentiality
File and store GBV-related data in the Gender-Based Violence Information Management System (GBVIMS) in compliance with inter-agency information sharing protocols. Ensure strict confidentiality of all case-related information and protect survivor identities throughout all activities.
Community Engagement and Capacity Building
Support the delivery of basic GBV trainings to community structures, including GBV core concepts, guiding principles, and safe identification and referral of GBV cases. Engage with communities and community representatives to identify needs and gaps in GBV programming.
Monitoring, Evaluation and Compliance
Support regular quality implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of GBV-related projects and interventions. Ensure survivor-centered principles are applied consistently in all GBV case management activities.
Reporting and Administrative Responsibilities
Maintain and regularly update case management databases and relevant trackers. Enter client data accurately and timely into DRC Case Management Information Management systems or Excel tools as appropriate. Participate in weekly supervision sessions with the Protection Manager or Coordinator and bring urgent or emergency cases to immediate attention. Participate in internal case conferences, technical reviews, team meetings, trainings, and workshops.
Other Duties
Carry out additional protection-related tasks as assigned by the Protection Team Leader.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
University degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, Law, or another relevant field from a recognized institution.
Experience
Minimum of one year of experience in protection work, preferably with an international humanitarian organization. Experience in GBV case management, referrals, and awareness activities is desirable. Field experience in emergency contexts is highly desirable.

Language Requirements
Good proficiency in written and spoken English, Amharic, and Tigrigna.
