Project Officer – Integrating Health System Strengthening

Job Summary
The Project Officer will provide technical assistance and coordination for the Integrated Health System Strengthening (IHSS) project at the subnational level. The role focuses on integrating key health system pillars—Human Resources for Health (HRH), Health Care Financing (HCF), Data, and Leadership & Governance—ensuring project targets are achieved, and maintaining collaboration with government and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate project activities in line with regional and woreda health plans.
  • Conduct project reviews, define objectives, and revise indicators.
  • Manage logistics, finance, and procurement according to policies and donor requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with government counterparts and stakeholders.
  • Support capacity-building and supervision on leadership, governance, HRH, HCF, and health system inputs.
  • Monitor project activities, document lessons learned, and support data quality assessments.
  • Manage project budgets and ensure compliance with organizational and donor regulations.
  • Coordinate integration with other Amref projects.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Public Health or related health discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in health systems strengthening, preferably in Governance, Healthcare Financing, and health systems inputs.
  • Strong collaboration, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Fluency in English and at least one local language.
  • Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Willingness to travel extensively and work within Amref policies.
