Job Description:
Amref Health Africa is seeking a dedicated and experienced Project Officer to coordinate the “Countering Harmful Practices F4B Project” in Jijiga, Somali Region, Ethiopia. This role is integral to regional-level project management, focusing on preventing harmful practices such as Child, Early, and Forced Marriage (CEFM), Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C), teenage pregnancy, and Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

The Project Officer will ensure smooth implementation of project activities by overseeing day-to-day coordination, monitoring, and reporting. The role requires working closely with government bureaus, Plan International Ethiopia, and local implementing partners to ensure collaboration, address challenges, and achieve project objectives efficiently.

This position provides an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of girls and vulnerable populations, supporting initiatives that foster gender equality, disability inclusion, and climate-sensitive approaches.

The officer will also work to integrate child protection and sexual and reproductive health (SRH) interventions into existing health and social service structures, ensuring that services are survivor-centered, child-friendly, and gender-responsive.

Educational Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, Sociology, Gender Studies, or a related field.
  • A Master’s degree is considered an asset.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of six years of relevant experience in child protection, SRH, GBV, civil society strengthening, or related development programs.
  • Experience working with health facilities, safe houses, or One-Stop Centers is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in coordination with government institutions and local partners.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong facilitation, coordination, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of national child protection, GBV, and SRH policies and guidelines.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Excellent analytical, reporting, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to promoting gender equality, disability inclusion, and survivor-centered approaches.
