Job Description:
The Project Officer for the Future4Binti Project will be based in Debre Birhan, Ethiopia, and will oversee regional-level coordination for the “Countering Harmful Practices F4B Project,” funded by the Dutch Ministry for Foreign Affairs. This project aims to prevent and respond to harmful practices including Child, Early, and Forced Marriage (CEFM), Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C), teenage pregnancy, and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in the Amhara region.
The Project Officer will ensure smooth implementation of project activities by monitoring progress, providing technical support, and coordinating with partners. They will work closely with regional government bureaus, Plan International Ethiopia, and local civil society organizations to strengthen service delivery, enhance local capacity, and achieve project results efficiently and effectively.
This role offers an opportunity to directly influence gender equality and child protection outcomes while supporting the development of inclusive and survivor-centered approaches across health and social services. The Project Officer will contribute to systemic improvements and the empowerment of local communities.
The role also emphasizes coordination of services at health centers, safe houses, and One-Stop Centers, ensuring that child protection and sexual and reproductive health (SRH) interventions are delivered comprehensively and ethically.
Educational Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, Sociology, Gender Studies, or a related field.
- Master’s degree is an added advantage.
Work Experience:
- Minimum six years of relevant experience in child protection, SRH, GBV, civil society strengthening, or related development programs.
- Experience working with health facilities, safe houses, or One-Stop Centers is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to coordinate effectively with government institutions and local partners.
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Strong facilitation, coordination, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of national child protection, GBV, and SRH policies and guidelines.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.
- Excellent analytical, reporting, and documentation skills.
- Capacity to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to promoting gender equality, disability inclusion, and climate-sensitive approaches in programming.
