The European Union Delegation to Ethiopia invites applications for the position of Project Officer – Agriculture in the Cooperation Section. The role supports the design, implementation, and monitoring of programmes and projects in agriculture, food security, rural development, livestock, and agribusiness under the Multiannual Indicative Programme (2024–2027). The position involves policy dialogue, programme management, financial monitoring, and reporting to ensure successful delivery of EU-funded initiatives.
Place of Employment: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Working Hours: 37.5 hours/week
Salary: Group I – Starting basic salary €2,748/month (equivalent in Ethiopian Birr) plus benefits including transportation allowance, provident fund, and medical insurance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyse and report on agriculture, rural development, food security, livestock, and agribusiness in Ethiopia and the region.
- Manage, monitor, and evaluate the implementation of programmes and projects according to EU procedures.
- Prepare and follow up on tendering processes, contracts, and payments.
- Support policy dialogue with relevant ministries, agencies, EU Member States, and stakeholders.
- Draft briefings, reports, and technical documents.
- Ensure accurate financial monitoring and operational approvals.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Rural Development, Food Security, Veterinary, Livestock, Agribusiness, or related field. Master’s Degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 3 years with a Master’s Degree.
- C2 level English proficiency (read, write, speak, understand).
- High computer literacy.
- Experience with public organizations, international/diplomatic missions, or NGOs in relevant sectors.
Assets:
- Master’s Degree in relevant fields
- Experience in multicultural environments and EU-funded programmes
- Knowledge of Amharic and/or French
