Job Description
The Project Associate (Nurse) will support IOM’s Mobile Health and Nutrition Teams in Moyale, Oromia Region, delivering quality primary health care services in emergency and post-crisis settings.
The role contributes directly to saving lives, reducing disease, and strengthening health systems in displacement-affected communities.
Under the supervision of the Program Officer – Health, Senior Project Associate – Migration Health, and the Head of Sub-Office in Moyale, the nurse will provide front-line clinical care.
Key responsibilities include conducting medical consultations for early diagnosis and treatment.
The nurse will identify patients requiring higher-level care and facilitate referrals to secondary or tertiary health facilities.
Accurate medical records will be maintained, including weekly disease surveillance and morbidity reports using sex- and age-disaggregated data.
The role includes supporting maternal and child health services, including antenatal and postnatal care and vaccination campaigns.
Community health education sessions will be delivered to raise awareness of priority health issues.
The nurse will collaborate with health extension workers and participate in skills-sharing for health systems strengthening.
Weekly inventory of medicines and medical supplies will be conducted, with timely reporting of shortages.
The role also ensures proper medical waste management and strict confidentiality of patient information.
Educational Qualification
A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited university is required.
Applicants must hold a valid professional nursing practicing certificate.
Work Experience
At least three years of professional experience in nursing or primary health care is required.
Experience in resource-limited or emergency settings is an advantage.
Prior work with migrants, refugees, IDPs, or vulnerable populations is highly desirable.
Knowledge of national and international clinical protocols and DHMIS is an asset.
