Job Description
The Project Associate (Data Processing) will support IOM’s Health and MHPSS Team in Mekelle, Tigray Region, by managing data and information systems to ensure effective implementation and monitoring of health projects.

The role reports to the Chief Migration Health Officer, with technical oversight from the Program Officer – Health and MHPSS, and direct supervision from the Migration Health Officer.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the implementation and monitoring of health and MHPSS project activities.
  • Retrieving, compiling, summarizing, and presenting project-related data for analysis and reporting.
  • Monitoring project budgets, verifying availability of funds, updating financial information, and ensuring compliance with approvals.
  • Supporting administrative coordination, including liaison with internal teams and external partners.
  • Drafting status reports, identifying gaps or delays in project delivery, and providing recommendations to supervisors.
  • Preparing correspondence, briefing notes, statistical tables, presentations, and other documentation.
  • Organizing meetings, workshops, and training sessions for project stakeholders.
  • Maintaining records and responding to general information requests.
  • Performing other duties as assigned to support project objectives.

Educational Qualification

  • University degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Epidemiology, or a related field in health statistics.
  • Accredited universities must be listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in managing health data.
  • Experience liaising with government authorities, UN agencies, NGOs, and other institutions.
  • Experience working with migrants, refugees, IDPs, victims of trafficking, and other vulnerable groups.
  • Previous work with international humanitarian organizations or multicultural settings is an advantage.
  • Experience in primary health care, emergency health response, or implementing services for displaced populations is preferred.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with DHIS/DHMIS is required.

  • Strong computer literacy and ability to manage health data effectively.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of nationally and internationally accepted health protocols and guidelines.

Languages

  • Fluency in English (oral and written) is required.
  • Knowledge of French or Spanish is an asset. Language proficiency will be assessed during the selection process.

Employment Type and Salary

  • Special Short-Term Graded Contract (up to 9 months), initial duration of 6 months.
  • Grade: G-4
  • Salary and benefits are based on IOM’s local salary scale.
