About the Organization
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is a leading intergovernmental organization in the field of migration and a related agency of the United Nations. Established in 1951, the organization works globally to promote humane and orderly migration for the benefit of migrants and society.
IOM collaborates with governments, international organizations, and civil society to address migration challenges and support vulnerable populations. Through humanitarian assistance, development programs, and migration management initiatives, the organization contributes to improving the lives of migrants and displaced communities.
In Ethiopia, IOM implements various humanitarian and development programs to support migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, and host communities. The organization provides services that address urgent humanitarian needs while promoting long-term resilience.
One of the key program areas in Ethiopia is Shelter, Non-Food Items (NFI), and Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM). These programs aim to provide emergency shelter, essential household items, and effective camp management services for displaced populations.
These initiatives are particularly important in regions affected by displacement, conflict, and environmental challenges. They ensure that vulnerable populations have access to safe shelter, basic living conditions, and coordinated humanitarian assistance.
Through these programs, IOM works closely with government institutions, humanitarian agencies, and community partners to deliver timely and effective support.
Working with IOM provides professionals with valuable experience in humanitarian response and international development programs.
The organization promotes an inclusive and diverse workplace environment where employees can grow professionally while contributing to impactful humanitarian work.
IOM also emphasizes ethical conduct, accountability, and respect for diversity within its workforce.
This position contributes to the Shelter, NFI, and CCCM operational activities of IOM’s Program Resource Unit (PRU) in Ethiopia.
