Power Generation Operator – GCL Energy Investments Limited (Ethiopian Branch)

Job Overview:
The Power Generation Operator is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of power generation systems supporting LNG production and utility systems. This includes monitoring, operating, and maintaining gas turbines, diesel generators, steam turbines, electrical switchgear, and associated auxiliary systems to ensure continuous and compliant plant operation.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine plant checks, record operating data (pressures, voltages, temperatures), and report abnormalities.
  • Assist in equipment start-up and shutdown processes as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Conduct basic troubleshooting and escalate technical issues to maintenance or supervisory teams.
  • Support planned and unplanned maintenance activities, including system isolation and permit-to-work processes.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related fields.
  • 1–3 years of experience in power generation operations, preferably in LNG, oil & gas, or heavy industrial environments.
  • Strong understanding of electrical generation principles, thermodynamics, and plant operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret process flow diagrams (PFDs) and P&IDs.
  • Knowledge of boiler operation, turbine systems, and electrical safety standards.
  • Good problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Strong commitment to HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) policies.
  • Physically fit and able to work in outdoor or high-temperature environments.
  • Familiarity with DCS (Distributed Control System) or SCADA systems preferred.
