Job Description and Strategic Impact

The Nursing Activity Manager (Outreach) is a vital leadership role responsible for defining, coordinating, and monitoring all nursing and care-related activities within our outreach projects. Your primary objective is to ensure that MSF’s rigorous nursing protocols and standards are implemented consistently in supported health facilities throughout the Afar region. This role is essential for maintaining the quality and continuity of care for patients who are often excluded from traditional health systems.

Strategically, this position focuses on outreach and mobile nutritional activities, specifically targeting acute malnutrition in children under five. By supervising mobile teams and engaging in rapid assessments during outbreaks or natural disasters, you act as a first responder to public health alerts. Your leadership ensures that MSF remains agile and responsive to the evolving health needs of the community.

A “day-in-the-life” in this role involves high-level coordination with the Ministry of Health (MoH) and Regional Health Bureaus (RHB). You will manage human resources, schedule duty rosters, and provide technical mentorship to nursing staff at Patient Therapeutic Education (PTE) sites. Your impact is measured by the efficiency of referral systems and the integrity of pharmaceutical management within outreach activities.

Career development at MSF is unparalleled for those seeking to make a global impact. You will gain expertise in managing complex medical data, monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs), and developing strategic outreach plans. This experience prepares you for high-level management roles within the international humanitarian sector, providing a robust platform for professional advancement.

Your work directly contributes to safeguarding principles and the successful implementation of legal therapeutic protocols such as SGBV, Mental Health, and Vaccination services. By ensuring that stock levels are maintained and samples are collected correctly, you provide the logistical and clinical backbone for successful medical interventions in Afar.
