Job Description
The Non-Technical Survey (NTS) Operator will support DRC’s humanitarian mine action program in Shire and surrounding areas.

This role focuses on identifying and assessing the impact of explosive ordnance on women, men, girls, and boys in affected communities.

The operator will conduct community-level surveys and gather socio-economic, geographic, and impact data.

The role contributes directly to life-saving interventions by helping communities become safer and more informed.

The position works in close coordination with the NTS/EORE Team Lead and other project staff.

This role offers valuable field experience and professional development in humanitarian mine action.

Educational Qualification
Vocational school or high school education is required.

Higher education is an added advantage.

Formal NTS qualification is required.

Work Experience
Applicants must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field.

Previous training and experience in NTS is required.

Experience working with NGOs is an advantage.

Experience working in remote and volatile areas is strongly preferred.

Required Skills and Competencies
Sound knowledge of topography and basic map drawing.

Ability to use a compass, GPS, and basic digital camera.

Strong data collection and reporting skills.

Good knowledge of local communities and community dynamics.

Effective communication skills in Tigrinya and basic English.

Computer literacy.

Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.

Commitment to ethical conduct and safety standards.

Ability to work in challenging field conditions.

Job Location
The duty station is Shire, North Ethiopia Field Office.

The role requires regular travel to surrounding communities.

Employment Type and Salary
This is a National Contract position for 4 months.

The role is full-time and classified as Band H2 (Non-Management).

The start date is March 1, 2026.

Salary and benefits will be in accordance with DRC’s Terms of Employment for National Employees.
