Purpose of Service:

  • Enhance health and well-being of UN staff and eligible beneficiaries through high-quality, ethical, and patient-centered laboratory services
  • Support early detection and management of medical conditions
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and contribute to the multidisciplinary health care approach at UNHCC

Work Location: ECA ODESPS DA UNHCC
Expected Duration: 9 months

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform technical laboratory functions including chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, stool exams, immunology, parasitology, and COVID testing
  • Report test results following clinic protocols and alert providers or nurses about abnormal results
  • Apply international standards in specimen collection
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping of results and materials
  • Maintain, calibrate, clean, and test functionality of laboratory equipment
  • Follow laboratory policies, safety standards, and infection control procedures (OSHA regulations)
  • Monitor consumable reagents and sample collection materials and order them timely
  • Adhere to SOPs, job aids, and policies for each test
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications / Special Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences
  • Minimum 6 years of progressively responsible experience in a clinical laboratory
  • Experience with electronic medical record system (EarthMed)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and common internet applications

Languages:

  • Fluency in oral and written English required
  • Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage
