Job Description
The Junior Accountant will support the financial management of the Returnee Project, ensuring accurate financial recording, budget monitoring, and compliance with donor regulations. The role is critical in maintaining financial accountability and transparency while assisting the Finance Head and Deputy Finance Head in day-to-day financial operations. This position offers a platform to develop technical skills in accounting, financial reporting, and project financial management in an NGO environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Recording financial transactions accurately and maintaining updated accounts.
  • Monitoring project budgets and tracking expenditures against approved allocations.
  • Assisting in preparation of financial reports for internal management and donor requirements.
  • Ensuring compliance with donor regulations, organizational policies, and statutory requirements.
  • Supporting audits and providing necessary documentation for review by internal and external auditors.
  • Maintaining proper filing systems for financial records and reports.
  • Collaborating with program staff to ensure accurate and timely financial information.

Educational Qualification

  • BA degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Additional certification in accounting or financial management is an advantage.

Work Experience

  • 1–3 years of relevant work experience in finance or accounting.
  • Experience in NGOs, migration-related projects, or donor-funded programs is preferred.
  • Familiarity with accounting software and financial management of projects is desirable.

  • Proficiency in accounting software, including Peachtree, and Microsoft Excel.

  • Excellent written and spoken English; fluency in Amharic is required.

Job Location
Addis Ababa, National Office, with possible travel to project sites as required.
