The British Embassy Addis Ababa is seeking a qualified IT Support Officer (Administrative Officer grade) to provide day-to-day IT support services to Embassy staff. The role supports IT infrastructure, systems, and users, working closely with the IT Manager and Corporate Services Team in a diverse and inclusive working environment.

Main Purpose of the Role
The IT Support Officer is responsible for delivering reliable IT support services across the British Embassy Addis Ababa. The role includes troubleshooting IT issues, maintaining systems and equipment, supporting users, and ensuring continuity of IT services in line with Embassy and FCDO standards.
Key Responsibilities
Provide daily IT support services within the British Embassy
Manage standalone computers and user accounts
Build, rebuild, and maintain workstations
Support implementation of IT Business Continuity Plans
Escalate unresolved issues to UK service desks and follow up
Coordinate telecommunication services including landlines, mobile phones, and internet
Support users with ServiceNow incident reporting
Maintain UPS inventory and replacement schedules
Manage IT inventory and asset records
Support locally managed IT systems, hardware, peripherals, and cabling
Provide desk-side user support, training, and troubleshooting
Configure smartphones, internet connections, and video conferencing tools
Manage antivirus systems, local networks, and crisis IT equipment
Essential Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
Minimum of 3 years relevant professional experience in IT infrastructure and support
Strong experience in end-user IT support, including Office 365 and cloud services
Experience with Microsoft Exchange, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint
Knowledge of IT security, networking, and structured cabling
Proficiency in English and Amharic
Desirable Skills and Experience
Experience with AI and Business Intelligence tools
IT inventory management experience
Valid driving license

Salary and Benefits
Salary: USD 694.52 per month (subject to tax and statutory deductions)
