Job Overview
The IT Operations Associate position is based in a field office environment. The role reports to the Head of Field Office, Head of Unit, Chief, or Information Technology Officer. The position requires initiative and independent problem-solving with general guidance, daily decision-making, resource management, and coordination and coaching of IT support staff.
Job Purpose
To coordinate and guide information technology maintenance and support activities to ensure effective delivery of IT services.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out system and hardware maintenance activities, including network monitoring and system protection. Monitor technology performance, identify user needs, analyze data, and prepare reports to recommend IT solutions. Resolve standard IT-related queries independently and escalate complex issues when required. Provide technical training and support to end users on commonly used systems and technologies. Guide and train junior staff to strengthen IT support capacity. Support the coordination of new application implementations. Prepare end-user guides and technical documentation related to IT services and products. Implement improvements to IT methods and processes to enhance service delivery. Coordinate installation and maintenance of telecommunications systems and equipment. Coordinate IT staff activities in compliance with regulations and policies. Follow emergency response IT procedures to support humanitarian operations.
Education
Completion of secondary school education. Post-secondary certificate in a relevant IT or related functional area.
Experience
Minimum of six years of progressively responsible experience in a related field. Strong experience in digital solutions and data management.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience analyzing service management results and recommending improvements. Participation in business process re-engineering initiatives. Experience supporting procurement and budgeting processes at country office level.
Language Requirements
Fluency in written and spoken English (Level C). Knowledge of Somali language is desirable.
