Job Description
The Human Resources Manager provides strategic and operational HR leadership for SNV Ethiopia. The role ensures the organization maintains a capable, motivated, and well-managed workforce aligned with its development mission.

As a member of the Country Management Team, the HR Manager contributes to strategic planning and organizational performance. The role plays a key part in shaping country-level strategies and strengthening institutional effectiveness.

The HR Manager translates global HR frameworks into country-specific action plans that respond to local realities. This includes supporting growth, restructuring, and organizational transformation initiatives.

The position acts as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, offering evidence-based recommendations on workforce planning, employee relations, and risk management.

The role ensures fair and consistent application of HR policies and promotes transparent and ethical practices across the organization.

The HR Manager leads organizational design efforts, partnering with managers to optimize structures and improve team effectiveness.

Compliance and governance are core components of this role. The HR Manager ensures adherence to labor legislation, internal policies, and donor requirements.

The position manages disciplinary cases, grievances, and conflict resolution processes with professionalism and confidentiality.

The HR Manager oversees recruitment, onboarding, contract management, payroll coordination, benefits administration, and personnel records management.

The role ensures accurate HR data management and uses analytics to inform leadership decisions.

Leading and developing the HR team is a key responsibility. The manager sets clear objectives, conducts performance reviews, and supports professional growth.

The role drives talent management initiatives, including workforce planning, inclusive recruitment practices, onboarding systems, and succession planning.

Learning and development are central to the position. The HR Manager promotes continuous learning, staff wellbeing, and safeguarding standards.

The position also ensures competitive and compliant compensation and benefits systems aligned with local labor markets and global frameworks.

Through strong leadership and strategic thinking, the HR Manager directly contributes to organizational effectiveness and long-term development impact.

Educational Qualification
Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management, Organisational Development, Business Administration, or a related field.

Professional certifications in HR management or related disciplines are considered advantageous.

Work Experience
A minimum of 8 to 10 years of progressive experience in human resource management is required.

At least five years of experience in a senior HR leadership or managerial role is mandatory.

Experience working in an international NGO or development organization is highly desirable.

Applicants must demonstrate proven experience managing HR teams and working in multicultural environments.

Strong knowledge of labor law and international HR best practices is essential.

Employment Type and Salary
This position is offered under a National Contract.

The contract duration is one year, with the possibility of extension based on performance and budget availability.
