Job Description
The Gender Officer will provide technical leadership and support in implementing gender-responsive and peace-building programs in conflict-affected communities.
This role focuses on empowering women and girls, promoting gender equality, and strengthening their participation in community dialogue and peace-building processes.
The position will support gender-based conflict assessments, baseline studies, and research activities in operational areas.
You will ensure that gender commitments outlined in project proposals are fully integrated into all interventions.
The Gender Officer will monitor, evaluate, and improve project performance from a gender perspective.
You will serve as the gender focal person for project delivery, reporting, and partnership coordination.

Educational Qualification
A Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Social Development, Business Management, Development Studies, or a related field is required.
Additional training in gender, peace building, or conflict transformation is an advantage.
Work Experience
Two to three years of relevant experience is required, with at least one year in a similar gender-focused role.
Experience working on peace-building or security sector reform projects in conflict-affected environments is essential.
Experience in fragile regions such as Amhara, Tigray, and Benishangul is highly desirable.
Required Skills and Competencies
Strong knowledge of gender equality, GBV prevention, and peace building approaches.
Experience conducting gender-based conflict analysis and community assessments.
Ability to design, monitor, and evaluate gender-responsive programs.
Excellent facilitation, training, and community engagement skills.
Strong reporting, documentation, and communication abilities.
Ability to work collaboratively with government, NGOs, and community partners.
Cultural sensitivity, adaptability, and integrity.
Fluency in English and Amharic.
Willingness to travel domestically and work in challenging environments.
