The Role:
The Gender and Protection Assistant will support the Senior Capacity Building Officer in planning, implementing, and monitoring GBV activities under the AICS-VERSO project in Shire. The role focuses on strengthening community-based GBV and MHPSS initiatives while ensuring gender-sensitive and inclusive programming.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage communities and support local structures through discussions and assessments to address GBV issues.
- Monitor and document project progress, ensuring the safety, dignity, and inclusion of women, men, girls, and boys.
- Integrate gender and protection components into MEAL plans with measurable indicators.
- Represent Oxfam in relevant meetings and strengthen partnerships with humanitarian actors.
- Promote gender equality and protection principles in all project interventions.
What We Are Looking For:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the protection field with solid knowledge of human rights, humanitarian laws, and GBV issues.
- Experience in participatory assessments, report writing, capacity building, and community engagement.
- Proven ability to work with displaced populations and diverse teams in challenging environments.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications and strong commitment to Oxfam’s feminist values of empowerment, accountability, and inclusion.
