Job Description
The Full-Stack Developer (Laravel & React) will work on a modern, decoupled web architecture where Laravel serves as the core backend and API layer, while React powers the public-facing interfaces.
This role emphasizes clean API design, scalable data models, and seamless integration with asynchronous backend services. You will be involved in both server-side and client-side development, ensuring high performance, security, and user experience.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend services using Laravel as an API gateway.
- Build interactive and responsive user interfaces using React.
- Design and implement RESTful APIs for internal and external use.
- Implement authentication, authorization, and role-based access control.
- Integrate Laravel with asynchronous processing systems such as queues and background jobs.
- Work with PostgreSQL, including structured and semi-structured (JSON) data.
- Collaborate with Python-based services via REST and queue-based workflows.
- Ensure code quality, performance, and long-term maintainability.
Educational Qualification
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
Relevant technical training or certifications in web development are an added advantage.
Work Experience
The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of experience in full-stack or backend web development.
Experience working with decoupled or API-driven systems is highly desirable.
Prior exposure to data-intensive or content-driven platforms will be beneficial.
Required Skills and Competencies
Strong experience with Laravel in API-first development environments.
Solid hands-on experience with React and modern JavaScript frameworks.
Proven experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
Good knowledge of relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
Experience working with background jobs, queues, and asynchronous processes.
Familiarity with Docker-based development environments.
Proficiency with Git and collaborative version control workflows.
Preferred Skills
Experience with FilamentPHP.
Understanding of distributed systems or hybrid monolith architectures.
Experience integrating with search, analytics, or reporting systems.
Strong ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively.

This is an on-site position based at Independent News & Media Plc.
Employment Type and Salary
