Job purpose
The Food Security & Peace Building Coordinator will provide technical and strategic leadership for the “Enhancing Communities’ Resilience to Drought (ECRD)” project in Ethiopia’s Somali Region. The role integrates food security, livelihoods, and peacebuilding approaches with a strong focus on women’s economic empowerment, pastoralist resilience, and social cohesion.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for integrated food security, livelihoods, and peacebuilding activities
  • Coordinate field-level implementation and community engagement
  • Ensure timely delivery of project outputs and donor requirements
  • Apply conflict-sensitive programming approaches
  • Support monitoring, evaluation, reporting, and learning processes
  • Mentor and technically supervise partner field teams
  • Coordinate with government and civil society partners

Required qualifications and experience

  • Master’s degree in Food Security, Rural Development, Agricultural Economics, Conflict Studies, or a related field
  • Minimum five years of experience managing food security and livelihoods projects in fragile or pastoralist contexts
  • Proven experience linking economic recovery with peacebuilding and conflict mitigation
  • Strong knowledge of pastoral livelihood systems and resource-based conflict dynamics
  • Experience in gender-transformative programming and women’s economic empowerment
  • Experience managing donor-funded projects
  • Fluency in English, written and spoken
  • Strong report writing, presentation, and financial management skills
  • Computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
