Food Assistance Officer

Job Summary
The Food Assistance Officer facilitates the planning and implementation of WFP activities at woreda level, ensuring effective management of food commodities and timely distribution to project participants. The role supervises commodity teams, maintains strong relationships with stakeholders, and provides accurate reports to head office, regional offices, and WFP teams.

Key Responsibilities

Project Implementation

  • Support planning and execution of project activities, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and donor requirements
  • Supervise woreda-level commodity teams to ensure best practices in warehousing and distribution
  • Ensure timely delivery of food commodities to project participants

Compliance & Administration

  • Ensure adherence to organizational policies, donor requirements, and minimum commodity management standards
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation for all project activities
  • Oversee warehouse maintenance, capacity building for staff, and documentation of findings

Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Provide timely reports and data to JEOP/WFP teams and commodity staff
  • Maintain strong working relationships with woreda and kebele stakeholders, government partners, and CRS teams
  • Promote respectful interactions with project participants and community members

Required Qualifications

  • BA/BSc Degree in Agricultural Economics, Disaster Management, Rural Development, Economics & Development Studies, or related fields
  • Minimum 3–5 years of NGO experience in emergency food security, livelihood, or nutrition programs
  • Knowledge of Amharic, English, and Somali; local language knowledge is mandatory
