Job Description and Strategic Impact

The Finance Coordinator is a pivotal leadership role within the Shire Area Office, responsible for the implementation of NRC’s financial systems and procedures. This position ensures that all area operations adhere to global and local financial handbooks, donor regulations, and auditor requirements. You will be the primary guardian of financial compliance, ensuring that every dollar spent contributes directly to the well-being of displaced populations.

Your “day-in-the-life” impact involves high-level budget control, cash flow monitoring, and the oversight of accounting and reporting processes. You will work closely with project staff to ensure expenses are incurred in a manner consistent with grant agreements. By providing technical training to both finance and non-finance staff, you build an institutional culture of accountability and fiscal responsibility across the entire Shire area operations.

Strategically, this role is essential for the long-term sustainability of NRC’s programs. You will support Technical Specialists in proposal writing and budget preparation, ensuring that new initiatives are financially viable and transparent. By identifying cases of budget over- or under-spending, you provide critical advice to budget holders, enabling informed management decisions that optimize resource allocation in a volatile context.

You will master complex grant management reports and the use of Agresso for tracking purchase requests from source to payment. Educational Qualification: Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related financial field.

Work Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Finance professional within a Humanitarian Organization or Recovery Context (INGOs/NGOs).
