Job Description
The Finance Coordinator is a senior finance role responsible for managing financial operations at the area level, ensuring compliance with NRC policies, donor requirements, and global financial standards. Generic Responsibilities

  • Implement NRC financial systems and procedures at the area level.

  • Prepare and submit detailed reports and analyses for management review.
  • Ensure proper filing of all financial and support documents.
  • Provide guidance and training to line managers and support teams on finance procedures.
  • Manage and supervise the area finance team.
  • Ensure accounting, monitoring, and reporting processes align with NRC procedures.
  • Support project staff in financial matters, including budget management and expenditure monitoring.
  • Maintain budget control and monitor cash flow for the assigned area.
  • Develop, implement, and improve financial systems and procedures.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to global and local Financial Handbook, NRC policies, donor, and auditor requirements.
  • Train line managers and staff with financial responsibilities on proper procedures.
  • Prepare budgets and financial reports for donors.
  • Verify PR/PO/BAS, vouchers, and supporting documents meet NRC standards prior to payment.
  • Participate in procurement committee meetings and ensure procurement aligns with NRC guidelines.
  • Ensure timely payment of staff salaries, contractors, suppliers, and other expenditures.
  • Review and post financial data in Agresso daily.
  • Update authorization tables and bank signatory lists regularly.
  • Ensure taxes and pension obligations are met on a monthly basis.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations, eBRS, and project summaries for NAO office.
  • Monitor budgets and advise the Area Manager on spending status.
  • Ensure inter-country costs are reported and allocated correctly.
  • Support area managers in budget preparation and revision.
  • Maintain proper filing of support documents.
  • Prepare for annual audits and support audit processes.
  • Support the implementation of anti-corruption policies and procedures.

Educational Qualification

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

Work Experience

  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a finance role within a humanitarian or recovery context.
  • Experience working in complex and volatile environments.
  • Proven track record of achieving results in financial management and leadership responsibilities.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong leadership and management skills for supervising a finance team.
  • Proficiency in financial reporting, budgeting, and accounting systems.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle complex financial operations independently.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
