Job Description
The Education Technical Assistant supports the effective implementation of education activities designed to improve school attendance, retention, protection, and learning outcomes for vulnerable children.
The role provides operational support within schools and communities, including monitoring student attendance, supporting accelerated learning programs, promoting child protection, and strengthening school gender clubs.
You will assist teachers, coordinate with Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs), and support home visits for at-risk students.
The role focuses on data collection, reporting, and ensuring that activities are implemented according to approved work plans under the supervision of the Education Officer.
By supporting these initiatives, the Education Technical Assistant contributes to improved learning outcomes and inclusive educational environments for children.
Educational Qualification
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Social Sciences, or a related field from a recognized institution.
Additional training in child protection, accelerated learning, or community education is an advantage.
Work Experience
Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in school-based or community education programs.
Experience working with vulnerable children in rural or semi-rural settings.
Experience in community mobilization, school engagement, or youth club facilitation is preferred.
Required Skills and Competencies
Strong understanding of child protection principles and safeguarding in schools.
Knowledge of gender-sensitive programming and inclusive education practices.
Ability to support accelerated learning programs and monitor student progress.
Competency in supervising tutorial teachers, data collectors, and school clubs.
Strong community engagement and facilitation skills.
Analytical and critical thinking for monitoring and reporting student performance.
Ability to work under pressure and adapt to field conditions.
Technical and Computer Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for tracking attendance, student performance, and basic reporting.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word for report writing and documentation.
Ability to use basic digital data collection tools such as Google Forms or KoboToolbox is advantageous.
Language Skills
Fluent in spoken Afaan Oromo for field engagement and school-based activities.
Working proficiency in written and spoken English for reporting and coordination.

West Hararghe Zone, Chiro Town, Ethiopia
Employment Type and Salary
Full-time, fixed-term, project-based contract.
Initial duration is 6 months, with potential extension based on performance and funding.
Gross monthly salary: 45,000–50,000 ETB (fixed to current USD exchange rate).
