The Mastercard Foundation, in partnership with the University of Edinburgh, aims to equip African scholars with the skills and knowledge to drive positive change in their communities. To date, the Foundation has supported over 30,000 young leaders globally.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must be citizens of Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Must hold a Bachelor’s degree by September 2026.
  • Demonstrated leadership and community service experience.
  • Must show financial need and inability to study abroad without this support.
  • Must meet the University of Edinburgh’s academic entry requirements.
  • Should not currently be enrolled in another postgraduate program under scholarship.

  • 14 November 2025 (5 PM): First-stage deadline (Declaration & Eligibility Assessment)
  • 21 November 2025: Final application deadline
  • End-November 2025 – January 2026: Application assessment
  • Early February 2026: Notification of results
