Job Summary
The Driver Mechanic provides safe, reliable transport services for the organization, ensuring staff and asset safety, vehicle maintenance, and compliance with regulations. The role performs minor mechanical repairs, maintains records, and supports administrative tasks for the unit and other divisions.
Key Responsibilities
Safe Driving & Customer Service
- Deliver transport services safely and reliably
- Follow prescribed work and safety rules, responding promptly to service calls
Vehicle Maintenance & Minor Repairs
- Perform preventive maintenance: change oil/filters, rotate tires, grease parts, check fluids, replace bulbs
- Inspect vehicles and report mechanical problems to supervisor
- Maintain cleanliness, fuel levels, and vehicle accessories
Record Keeping & Reporting
- Maintain log books, fuel consumption records, and preventive maintenance records
- Prepare and submit monthly vehicle usage reports
Administrative Support
- Provide support to the unit and other divisions/departments as requested
Required Qualifications
- 12th grade or TVET Diploma
- 3rd grade valid driving license
- Minimum 2 years of related work experience
- Basic English speaking and writing skills
- Ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance and minor repairs
- Prepared to work in remote and uncertain security environments
- Fluent in Amharic, English, and local language (Afaan Oromo)
