Job Description
Mercy Corps Ethiopia is seeking a professional Driver to support the Ethiopia Seed Partnership Plus (ESP+) program in Mekelle. This role provides safe and reliable transportation services for program staff, field activities, and office operations. The Driver will adhere to all traffic regulations, Mercy Corps safety policies, and transport guidelines.

The position offers an opportunity to contribute directly to the delivery of a critical program supporting one million farming households with quality seed varieties, enhancing food security, nutrition, and resilience in vulnerable regions of Ethiopia.

Key Responsibilities

Transport Services

  • Operate Mercy Corps vehicles as assigned, ensuring safety and compliance with traffic laws and organizational policies.
  • Maintain vehicle log-sheets according to Mercy Corps standards.
  • Conduct regular checks on vehicle conditions, reporting maintenance needs and potential problems to transport management.
  • Ensure vehicles are clean, ready, and properly equipped with necessary tools, first aid kits, and spares.

Logistical Support

  • Assist with office and guesthouse logistics as required.
  • Support staff and visitors with transportation needs, including troubleshooting issues during daily operations.
  • Undertake field assignments as assigned by supervisors, including remote and rural areas.

Safety and Compliance

  • Adhere to all Mercy Corps policies and procedures, including safety protocols.
  • Conduct oneself professionally to uphold Mercy Corps’ humanitarian mission and reputation.
  • Safeguard vehicle equipment and ensure proper use of resources.

Educational Qualification

  • Completion of Grade 10 or higher.

Work Experience

  • Minimum of five years of driving experience.
  • Previous experience with NGOs is highly desirable.
  • Fluency in Tigrigna is mandatory; knowledge of English and Amharic is preferred.
