Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Chief Retail Banking Officer, the Director, Credit Analysis and Review Department provides strategic leadership and oversight of the Bank’s credit analysis, credit review, and risk assessment functions. The role ensures sound credit underwriting standards, effective portfolio quality management, and full compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and oversee the operations and strategic initiatives of the Credit Analysis and Review Department.
Establish, review, and enforce credit analysis and review frameworks, policies, and procedures.
Ensure consistent and high-quality credit appraisal, risk assessment, and credit recommendation processes.
Oversee independent credit reviews to assess portfolio quality, policy compliance, and risk exposure.
Provide guidance and final recommendations on complex, high-value, or high-risk credit proposals.
Monitor credit portfolio performance, trends, concentrations, and early warning indicators.
Identify credit risk gaps and recommend corrective actions to senior management.
Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines, internal credit policies, and governance standards.
Prepare and present periodic credit risk and portfolio quality reports to senior management and committees.
Coordinate with Retail, Corporate, SME, Risk Management, and Recovery units to strengthen credit quality.
Lead, mentor, and evaluate departmental staff to build a high-performing credit analysis team.
Support internal and external audits related to credit operations and implement agreed action plans.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Retail Banking Officer.
Requirements
Education
MA, MBA, MSc, BA, or BSc in Business Management, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
Experience
Minimum of 8 to 10 years of relevant banking experience.
At least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role within credit, risk, or related banking functions.
Skills and Competencies
Strong expertise in credit analysis, credit risk management, and portfolio review.
In-depth knowledge of banking regulations, credit policies, and risk governance frameworks.
Proven leadership, people management, and sound decision-making abilities.
Excellent analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and presentation skills for senior management and committees.
