Job Description
The Business Control Coordinator – Grants plays a central role in managing donor-funded projects and ensuring strong financial governance within the Country Office. The position is responsible for overseeing grant applications, donor contracts, reporting processes, and budget controls.

The role works closely with program and finance teams to ensure that proposals are financially sound and compliant with donor regulations. The coordinator ensures that funds are utilized effectively and in line with both donor and organizational requirements.

The position contributes significantly to strengthening internal control systems and improving financial transparency. It supports strategic decision-making by providing accurate financial analysis and reporting.

Key responsibilities include managing all donor contracts at the Country Office level. The role ensures compliance with grant conditions and monitors expenditures to safeguard responsible use of funds.

The coordinator leads budget development processes in collaboration with program teams. This includes ensuring realistic cost structures and applying Full Cost Recovery principles according to organizational standards.

The position also coordinates with the Global Office Budget Development team to finalize and review budgets in a timely manner. It ensures that project codes and administrative memos are properly set up in the system.

Another critical responsibility involves managing sub-grants, partners, consultants, and subcontractors. The role ensures full compliance with contractual terms, donor requirements, and applicable regulations.

The coordinator conducts due diligence assessments to confirm that partners meet financial management standards. This reduces risk and strengthens accountability within partnership arrangements.

Capacity building is an important aspect of the role. The position supports partners and sub-grantees by providing guidance on donor compliance and financial reporting requirements.

The role collaborates with treasury and disbursement teams to ensure that partner advances and payments are processed efficiently. It follows up on timely submission and verification of financial reports.

In addition, the Business Control Coordinator may supervise and mentor staff. The role supports performance management processes and contributes to professional development planning within the team.

Educational Qualification
Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Applied Economics, or a closely related field.

Professional certifications in accounting, finance, or project management will be considered an added advantage.

Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of relevant and progressive professional experience is required.

Applicants should demonstrate experience in financial modeling, corporate reporting, business control, and project management.

Experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning systems, preferably SAP Business ByDesign, is highly desirable.

Candidates with experience managing US Government and other international donor contracts will have an advantage.

Required Skills and Competencies
Strong analytical and financial management skills are essential for success in this role.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other computer applications is required.

Excellent communication and presentation skills are necessary for effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.

The ability to coach, mentor, and build capacity within teams and partner organizations is highly valued.

Employment Type and Salary
This position is offered under a National Contract.

The contract duration is one year, with the possibility of extension based on performance and budget availability.

The expected start date is May 01, 2026.
