About the Organization
Amref Health Africa, founded in 1957, stands as the largest African-based international health development organization. With a vision of “Lasting health change in Africa,” we have spent decades catalyzing and driving community-led, people-centered health systems. Today, we implement over 180 programs, reaching more than 40 million people across 35 African countries. Our strength lies in our deep African roots and our belief that the power to transform the continent’s health resides within its own communities.
Headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, Amref maintains a significant presence in Ethiopia, where we work tirelessly to address the social determinants of health. We strive to ensure that health systems are not only functional but also accountable to the people they serve. By empowering communities to demand quality and affordable healthcare, we create sustainable shifts in the health landscape that persist for generations.
Our organizational culture is defined by innovation, inclusivity, and a relentless commitment to safeguarding. We operate with a staff complement of over 2,000 professionals who are dedicated to reaching the most vulnerable populations, including those in pastoralist and conflict-affected areas. At Amref, we don’t just provide services; we build resilient systems that protect the dignity and rights of every individual.
We recognize that systemic change requires a diversity of voices and experiences. Amref Health Africa is an equal-opportunity employer that fosters a working environment characterized by mutual respect and professional growth. We are dedicated to creating a workplace where every employee, regardless of background, can contribute to our mission of driving health equity across the continent.
In line with our gender-transformative goals, Amref Health Africa explicitly encourages women and individuals from underrepresented groups to apply for this vital role. We are committed to narrowing the gender gap in technical and leadership positions, ensuring that our team reflects the diverse communities we support through the Future4Binti (F4B) project and beyond.
Job Description and Strategic Impact
The Service Delivery Technical Advisor is a cornerstone role for the Dutch MoFA-funded Future4Binti (F4B) project. This position provides the strategic and technical leadership necessary to integrate protection and Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) services for at-risk adolescent girls and young women. By joining this project, you will be at the forefront of a locally led, gender-transformative initiative designed to dismantle harmful practices like FGM/C and child marriage.
A “day-in-the-life” in this role involves high-level technical oversight and hands-on system strengthening. You will work across health facilities, One-Stop Centers, and community structures to ensure that survivors receive timely, survivor-centered care. Your work will directly bridge the gap between national policy and local implementation, ensuring that SOPs and referral tools are contextualized for the unique realities of Ethiopia’s diverse regions.
The strategic impact of this role is profound. By strengthening referral pathways between health, police, and legal services, you ensure that the most vulnerable—including girls with disabilities and those in displacement—are not left behind. You will be the architect of service quality, conducting supportive supervision and mentorship that elevates the capacity of health workers and local CSOs across the country.
Career development at Amref Health Africa is a journey of continuous learning and influence. As an Advisor, you will represent the organization in national technical working groups and coordinate with UN agencies and government bureaus. This role offers the opportunity to build a significant professional legacy by shaping the national response to gender-based violence and SRH in Ethiopia.
Joining Amref means choosing a career with meaning. You will be part of a team that challenges norms and pioneers climate-sensitive, emergency-responsive health solutions. If you are a passionate change-maker ready to impact the lives of millions of adolescent girls, this role provides the platform and resources to turn that passion into lasting systemic change.
