About the Position
The Logistics Team Leader coordinates and oversees all logistics operations to ensure effective support for MSF’s medical activities. The role focuses on planning, implementation and monitoring of logistics systems, ensuring full compliance with MSF standards and mission objectives.
Main Responsibilities
Define and implement logistics priorities with Project and Logistics Coordinators; contribute to annual planning, proposals, budgets and assessments; ensure installation and maintenance of offices, staff accommodations, warehouses and essential equipment; manage material resources including fleet, electricity, IT, communications, transport and construction; support WHS activities; oversee logistics reporting tools and operational documentation; supervise, coach and develop logistics team members; manage recruitment, training, induction and evaluations; ensure adherence to technical guidelines, policies and security regulations.
Support Logistics Operations
Ensure proper maintenance, repair and allocation of the vehicle fleet; monitor generator and vehicle stock; maintain working and living facilities; manage telecommunications and IT systems; ensure electrical safety across buildings; remain reachable outside working hours for urgent logistics needs; support project security monitoring and risk analysis.
Program Support Activities
Support epidemic response operations (cholera, measles, meningitis) including cold-chain logistics; assist displaced-population support efforts such as outreach, temporary shelters and NFI distribution; contribute to project security planning and implementation; ensure safety of facilities, staff movements, information systems and handling of dangerous goods; share security updates and collaborate with mechanics to improve fleet operations.
Human Resource Management
Update logistics organizational charts; develop job profiles for logistics staff; evaluate technical HR needs and set priorities with coordination; plan and monitor daily logistics activities; support logistics team autonomy in communication, planning and reporting; supervise six direct-report supervisors; manage staff development from recruitment through training to end-of-contract; support logistics-related contract preparation (facilities, vehicles, construction, rehabilitation).
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Additional certificates in logistics, fleet management, or emergency operations are an advantage.
Experience
Strong experience in logistics coordination, facility management and fleet supervision; previous experience in humanitarian field operations preferred; experience managing teams in complex environments; familiarity with MSF logistics standards is an asset.
Technical & Language Skills
Proficiency in logistics systems, fleet management, facility maintenance, communications tools and IT resources; strong MS Office skills; fluent English required; local language skills are an asset.
