Purpose of Service:
- Enhance health and well-being of UN staff and eligible beneficiaries through high-quality, ethical, and patient-centered laboratory services
- Support early detection and management of medical conditions
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and contribute to the multidisciplinary health care approach at UNHCC
Work Location: ECA ODESPS DA UNHCC
Expected Duration: 9 months
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform technical laboratory functions including chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, stool exams, immunology, parasitology, and COVID testing
- Report test results following clinic protocols and alert providers or nurses about abnormal results
- Apply international standards in specimen collection
- Ensure accurate record-keeping of results and materials
- Maintain, calibrate, clean, and test functionality of laboratory equipment
- Follow laboratory policies, safety standards, and infection control procedures (OSHA regulations)
- Monitor consumable reagents and sample collection materials and order them timely
- Adhere to SOPs, job aids, and policies for each test
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications / Special Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences
- Minimum 6 years of progressively responsible experience in a clinical laboratory
- Experience with electronic medical record system (EarthMed)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and common internet applications
Languages:
- Fluency in oral and written English required
- Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage
