Purpose of the Job

The role involves managing individual human rights complaints, planning and implementing monitoring of places of detention and emergencies, finalizing reports, issuing recommendations, and developing and implementing advocacy and follow-up strategies.

Qualifications and Experience

• Education: LLM/LLB Degree in Law, Human Rights Law, or International Law.
• Experience:
  • 4 years of relevant experience for LLB holders.
  • 2 years of relevant experience for LLM holders.
• Skills Required: Analytical skills, communication, attention to detail, and problem-solving.
• Language: Knowledge of Amharic required. Knowledge of other local languages is advantageous.
• General: Computer literate.

Key Job Responsibilities (Summary)

• Manage and conduct investigations of assigned human rights complaints.
• Conduct monitoring of places of detention and draft related reports.
• Conduct human rights monitoring during emergencies.
• Develop and implement advocacy and follow-up strategy based on issued recommendations.
• Propose areas for systemic investigation and refer them to thematic functions.
• Manage partnerships and relationships with relevant stakeholders.
• Conduct research on human rights issues.
