About the Young Professionals Program (YPP)
The YPP is a diversity-focused talent development initiative designed to nurture Africa’s future leaders and development experts. It offers an opportunity for young, talented professionals to build rewarding careers and contribute to the continent’s transformation.
Program Objectives:
- Build a professional pipeline for the Bank’s future leadership
- Develop talented young professionals as future development specialists
- Support the Bank’s diversity and inclusion goals
Key Features
- Rotation: Participants rotate across three different departments, including one in a Country or Regional Office.
- Capacity Development: Includes structured learning through onboard training, postgraduate programs, certifications, and on-the-job experience.
- Mentorship & Coaching: Dedicated mentors and coaching programs for professional growth and cultural integration.
- Graduation: Successful participants graduate at PL5 level and integrate into the Bank’s workforce.

Applicants from all relevant fields are welcome, especially those aligned with AfDB’s priorities: Information Technology & Digitalization, Agriculture & Food Security, Engineering & Infrastructure, Human Capital & Youth Employment, Economics, Statistics & Data Management, Finance, Risk & Investment Management, Operations & Procurement, Communication, Legal, and Governance, Human Resources & Corporate Services.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify, candidates must:
- Be a citizen of an AfDB member country
- Be 32 years or younger by November 30, 2025
- Hold a Master’s degree in a relevant field
- Have at least 3 years of post-graduate work experience
- Demonstrate passion for Africa’s development
- Have strong teamwork, leadership, and analytical skills
- Be fluent in English or French (with working knowledge of the other preferred)
- Be willing to live and work in Abidjan or other AfDB locations
- Have good command of MS Office (SAP knowledge is an asset)
