About This Role
The GBV Officer implements, monitors, and reports on GBV prevention and response activities within the Ethiopia Humanitarian Fund project. The role ensures survivors receive timely support, strengthens referral systems, promotes community awareness, and integrates GBV considerations throughout the program. The position collaborates with local authorities, partner organizations, and community structures to reduce risks and respond effectively to GBV cases.

Job Responsibilities

Project Implementation and Coordination

  • Support planning, execution, and monitoring of GBV prevention and response activities.
  • Ensure GBV prevention components are properly integrated.
  • Conduct needs assessments to identify beneficiaries and relevant protection interventions.
  • Monitor activities of senior community mobilizers and volunteers.
  • Support communities in implementing GBV prevention activities.
  • Participate in GBV Sub-Cluster meetings.

Stakeholder Engagement and Community Mobilization

  • Collaborate with local authorities, NGOs, community leaders, and refugee committees to strengthen GBV response.
  • Organize and facilitate training sessions and awareness campaigns on GBV response, referral, and prevention.
  • Represent the project in meetings and forums related to GBV prevention.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting

  • Assist in data collection, monitoring, and evaluation of project progress.
  • Gather community and staff feedback to improve services.
  • Document lessons learned, challenges, and best practices.
  • Prepare and submit timely reports to the Project Coordinator.
  • Support assessments, surveys, and impact evaluation activities.
  • Supervise facilitators and volunteers participating in GBV prevention activities.

Capacity Building and Training

  • Support training for community members on GBV prevention methodologies.
  • Assist in developing culturally appropriate materials for refugee community members.

Compliance and Safeguarding

  • Ensure adherence to protection and safeguarding policies.
  • Identify and report risks related to safety and well-being.

Job Requirements

Required Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Development Studies, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in protection or humanitarian programs.
