About the Organization

One Acre Fund (OAF) is a high-impact social enterprise that has been redefining the agricultural landscape in Africa since 2006. With a presence across nine countries, we equip more than 5.5 million smallholder farmers with the tools they need to break the cycle of poverty. Our model is built on the belief that when farmers succeed, whole nations prosper. By providing high-quality farm supplies, accessible credit, and modern training, we help families significantly increase their productivity and income.

In Ethiopia, our journey began in the Amhara region in 2014, and since 2018, we have become a driving force in large-scale reforestation and tree-planting initiatives. Our impact is growing rapidly, having expanded into the South Region in 2024. We are an organization driven by a massive, green vision: to plant 100 million trees in Ethiopia by 2030, building permanent climate resilience for rural communities while restoring the natural beauty and health of the land.

We operate with a "Field-First" philosophy, meaning our strategies are born from the soil and the needs of the farmers we serve. We are not just a traditional NGO; we are a social enterprise that values innovation, data-driven results, and operational excellence. At One Acre Fund, we bridge the gap between global strategy and last-mile delivery, ensuring that every seedling planted contributes to a sustainable future.

Our workplace culture is deeply rooted in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). We believe that solving the world's most complex challenges requires a team that reflects the diversity of the communities we support. We foster an environment where every voice is heard, and professional growth is a shared priority. Our team is a mix of global experts and local leaders working side-by-side toward a common goal.

We are a proud equal-opportunity employer. We recognize that women and underrepresented groups are often the backbone of agricultural communities, and we want that reflected in our leadership. We strongly encourage women and Ethiopian nationals to apply for these senior roles. Joining One Acre Fund means joining a movement dedicated to environmental restoration and the economic empowerment of millions.

Job Description and Strategic Impact

The Ethiopia Chief of Staff and the Innovations & Growth Lead are two of the most strategic positions within our country program. These roles are designed for visionary leaders who can navigate the complexities of a large-scale operation while maintaining a laser focus on long-term impact. Both positions are essential for OAF Ethiopia as we transition from a traditional non-profit model to a self-sustaining, revenue-generating organization.

The Chief of Staff serves as the "engine" of our internal operations. In this role, you are the primary strategic partner to the Country Director, ensuring that our enabling functions—such as people systems and inter-departmental coordination—work in perfect harmony. By unblocking operational constraints and architecting a strong internal culture, you allow the organization to scale its impact effectively. You are the glue that holds our ambitious country program together.

The Innovations & Growth Lead sits at the cutting edge of our mission. This role manages our "Learning Agenda," leading the transition toward a social enterprise model that generates revenue through carbon credits and high-value fruit trees. You are responsible for proving which products work through rigorous field trials before scaling them to hundreds of thousands of households. Your work is key to generating $100M in additional impact by the end of the decade.

Both roles offer profound career development opportunities. At One Acre Fund, leaders are given high levels of autonomy and the responsibility to manage large teams and multi-million dollar impact goals. You will gain experience in cross-team systems like OKR setting, experimental design, and high-level representation. This is a place where you can see the direct result of your strategy in the flourishing of a farmer's field or the growth of a new forest.

The strategic impact of these roles extends beyond the organization. By optimizing our internal systems and scaling innovative agricultural products, you are directly contributing to Ethiopia’s national climate goals and economic resilience. We are looking for professionals who are ready to roll up their sleeves, travel to rural field sites, and lead the charge in making Ethiopia a global leader in sustainable smallholder agriculture.
