Job Description
The Food Security Officer plays a key technical role in designing, implementing, and monitoring food security and livelihood programs. The officer will support initiatives aimed at strengthening community resilience, promoting environmentally sustainable agriculture, and fostering income-generating activities. This role provides an opportunity to work across multiple diocesan offices, ensuring projects are technically sound and aligned with international standards for humanitarian and development programs.
The responsibilities of the Food Security Officer include:
- Leading the technical design and planning of food security and livelihood projects in line with Sphere Standards and the Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS).
- Providing expert guidance to 13 diocesan offices on climate-smart agriculture, sustainable livelihood models, and resilience-building interventions.
- Collaborating with the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) unit to integrate digital tools such as KoBo and Power BI for tracking household resilience and nutritional status.
- Ensuring efficient stewardship of project inputs, budgets, and resources, maintaining them as a “Sacred Trust” for the benefit of marginalized communities.
- Representing CCE in the National Food Security Cluster to align organizational activities with the national humanitarian response and policy frameworks.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of programs through innovative and context-sensitive solutions in challenging humanitarian environments.
This role provides exposure to high-level program management, national coordination platforms, and technical leadership in food security programming, offering substantial opportunities for career growth.
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics, Rural Development, Plant Sciences, Food Security, or related fields.
- Advanced training or certifications in food security, livelihood programming, or agricultural development is an asset.
Work Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in food security programming within NGOs, faith-based organizations, or humanitarian agencies.
- Demonstrated experience in project design, implementation, and monitoring of livelihood interventions.
- Exposure to working with communities in challenging or resource-limited contexts is highly preferred.

- Strong technical knowledge of Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) and related tools.
- Proficiency in digital data collection, monitoring, and reporting tools.

This is a full-time position with a three-year renewable contract based on performance.
