About the Role
The GIZ project Support to the Transitional Justice Process in Ethiopia (S2TJ) works to strengthen key government institutions and civil society organizations to ensure an inclusive, gender-responsive, and victim-centered transitional justice process in line with international human rights standards.
As the Advisor for Regional Government Cooperation, Community-Based MHPSS, and Peacebuilding, you will support regional governments, civil society, and local partners in promoting peace, reconciliation, and mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Support capacity development and networking with local civil society organizations on transitional justice and gender.
- Strengthen regional government capacities (Bureaus of Justice, Women, Social Affairs, and Health) on peacebuilding and gender equality.
- Coordinate and implement community-led initiatives on MHPSS, peacebuilding, and conflict-related SGBV response.
- Identify and support community-based MHPSS providers and local partners.
- Manage local funding mechanisms and ensure proper monitoring and reporting.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing, documentation, and cross-project coordination.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, Political Science, Peace and Conflict Studies, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in at least two of the following: MHPSS, conflict prevention/peacebuilding, or transitional justice.
- Proven experience working with Amhara regional bureaus and local civil society.
- Knowledge of MHPSS approaches and peacebuilding in post-conflict settings.
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Excellent English and Amharic; other local languages are an advantage.
- Proficient in MS Office and related digital tools.
Preferred Skills
Conflict resolution, analytical thinking, teamwork, gender sensitivity, and ability to work in conflict-affected areas.
