Positive Action for Development (PAD) Multiple Open Positions

About the Organization

Positive Action for Development (PAD) is a distinguished indigenous, non-governmental, and non-profit Ethiopian Civil Society Organization, officially registered under Registration No. 2330. Since its founding, PAD has been driven by a singular, powerful vision: to foster a just, compassionate, and inclusive society where every individual possesses the opportunity to thrive. The organization operates as a secular and legally compliant entity, dedicated to providing high-impact humanitarian and development support to the most vulnerable communities across Ethiopia.

The mission of PAD is rooted in the belief that impactful action is the only way to address systemic poverty and the devastating effects of conflict. By focusing on multi-sectoral interventions that include health, nutrition, protection, and peacebuilding, PAD ensures that its projects are not merely temporary fixes but sustainable pathways toward long-term resilience. The organization’s reputation is built on a foundation of optimism and excellence, consistently meeting the highest standards of professional accountability.

Integrity and kindness are at the heart of PAD’s operational philosophy. The organization goes beyond traditional aid delivery by actively engaging with community leaders and local structures to ensure that every project is culturally sensitive and community-owned. This grassroots approach allows PAD to navigate the complex social dynamics of regions like Tigray, Amhara, and Oromia, building trust in areas where traditional support systems have been severely strained by instability.

At the core of the organization is a culture that prioritizes safeguarding and human rights above all else. PAD maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy against any form of abuse, harassment, or exploitation. By creating a safe and professional environment for both staff and beneficiaries, the organization ensures that its interventions uphold the dignity of every human being, regardless of their background or current circumstances.

PAD is firmly committed to the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion within its workforce. We believe that our team should reflect the diversity of the communities we serve to be truly effective. Therefore, we explicitly and strongly encourage women, persons with disabilities, and individuals from underrepresented groups to apply for these positions. We are dedicated to providing a workplace where all professionals can contribute meaningfully and grow to their full potential.

Job Description and Strategic Impact

The current recruitment drive for Project Coordinators, Protection Officers, and specialized field staff is a critical step in PAD’s strategic expansion. These roles are the backbone of the Integrated Multi-sector Social Cohesion and Protection project, designed to mend social fabrics and provide life-saving services in high-need areas. By filling these positions, PAD aims to create a robust frontline defense against the cycles of violence and malnutrition that threaten community stability.

For those in leadership and technical roles, the impact is both immediate and systemic. The Protection Officers and Project Coordinators ensure that organizational strategies are translated into high-quality field interventions that adhere to global “Do No Harm” standards. Their oversight ensures that GBV survivors and displaced persons receive dignified care, while also fostering a culture of accountability among the field teams.

The field-level staff, including Social Workers and Dialogue Facilitators, serve as the vital pulse of the project. Their daily interactions with community members—whether facilitating a peace forum or providing Psychological First Aid—are what turn humanitarian concepts into reality. Their presence in remote and contested areas provides a sense of security and hope to individuals who might otherwise feel forgotten by the broader humanitarian community.

Strategic nutrition interventions, led by Community Development Facilitators, provide a foundation for future generations. By identifying and treating acute malnutrition in children and lactating mothers, these roles directly reduce mortality rates and ensure that children have the physical health required to succeed in life. This work bridges the gap between emergency relief and long-term developmental success.

Professional growth is a key promise of a career with PAD. Working in these complex and often high-pressure environments provides employees with unparalleled experience in humanitarian coordination, conflict sensitivity, and technical specialized service delivery. PAD is committed to mentoring its staff, offering a pathway for dedicated professionals to transition into senior management roles within the domestic and international NGO sectors.
