Job Description and Strategic Impact
The Logistics Coordinator Assistant and the Laboratory Supervisor are critical to the success of MSF’s medical missions in Ethiopia. While one ensures the foundational infrastructure and supply chain remain robust, the other guarantees the technical accuracy of diagnostic services that inform medical decisions. Both roles are essential for maintaining MSF’s high standards of quality and operational readiness.
The Logistics Coordinator Assistant serves as a polyvalent professional, overseeing fleet management, facility repairs, and emergency response capacity. This role ensures that medical teams have the necessary equipment, power, and transport to perform their duties under optimal working conditions. The Laboratory Supervisor holds a strategic position in ensuring the technical accuracy and safety of medical testing. This role oversees personnel, ensures equipment calibration, and maintains strict adherence to hygiene and safety protocols. By producing reliable diagnostic data, the supervisor supports doctors in providing accurate prescriptions and monitoring patient health, which is vital for effective humanitarian medical interventions.
Impact in these roles is measured by the ability to handle stressful situations calmly and deliver quality results within tight deadlines. Whether it is ensuring the cold chain for reagents or tracking rental vehicles for project movements, the daily efforts of these professionals ensure the stability and efficiency of the entire mission.
Career development within MSF includes intensive technical training, coaching, and potential detection for future leadership roles. Staff members are introduced to complex humanitarian procedures and given the autonomy to implement small logistics projects or develop updated laboratory protocols, fostering a sense of professional ownership and growth.
