About the Organization

Marie Stopes International Ethiopia (MSIE) stands as a premier results-oriented social enterprise and a vital partner of the global MSI reproductive healthcare network. For years, the organization has been at the forefront of delivering high-quality, sustainable sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services. By focusing on efficient and effective programming, MSIE has transformed the landscape of family planning and maternal health across the country, ensuring that life-saving services reach those who need them most.

The mission of MSIE is rooted in the belief that every individual has the right to determine their own future. This is achieved through a dramatic scale-up of health service delivery, which includes the expansion of specialized clinics, the deployment of rural outreach programs into remote regions, and the development of social franchising networks. These initiatives empower private service providers to maintain high standards of care, creating a robust ecosystem of health support for low-income women and couples.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are not just buzzwords at MSIE; they are the bedrock of the organizational culture. The institution prides itself on being an equal opportunity employer that values the unique perspectives brought by individuals from all sectors of the community. Policies are strictly designed to ensure that no applicant is disadvantaged based on their disability, race, religion, economic class, or HIV/AIDS status, fostering a workplace where merit and passion are the primary drivers of success.

In line with its commitment to social justice, MSIE implements a comprehensive Safeguarding Policy. This framework is designed to protect the rights of staff, children, and vulnerable community members alike. Every successful candidate joins a community that adheres to a strict code of conduct covering dignity at work, anti-slavery measures, and the prevention of sexual harassment. This ensures a safe, professional, and ethical environment for all employees to thrive.

MSIE is deeply committed to hiring and retaining female employees and has established flexible policies to support this goal. From travel policies tailored for pregnant and lactating women to flexible working hours for non-clinic staff, the organization strives to accommodate the diverse needs of its workforce. We strongly encourage qualified women and members of underrepresented groups to apply, as we believe a diverse team is essential to achieving our mission of empowering women nationwide.

Job Description and Strategic Impact

The role of a Driver at MSIE is far more than a logistical position; it is a critical link in the chain of healthcare delivery. By ensuring the safe and timely transport of medical personnel, equipment, and life-saving pharmaceuticals, the Driver directly contributes to the success of outreach programs and clinic operations. Every mile driven represents a step closer to providing essential health services to a woman in need, making this role fundamental to the organization’s strategic impact.

A typical day-in-the-life involves meticulous vehicle management and high-level coordination. Beyond driving, the individual acts as a steward of the organization’s physical assets, ensuring that vehicles are always road-worthy and compliant with national safety standards. This proactive maintenance prevents delays in service delivery, ensuring that health teams can reach their destinations without interruption, even in challenging environments.

The impact of this role extends into the administrative and liaison spheres. By handling the distribution of medical supplies, settlement of utility bills, and communication with government offices, the Driver ensures that the Support Office and Program Sites operate smoothly. This multifaceted responsibility allows the broader MSIE team to focus on clinical excellence while the Driver manages the vital logistical threads that hold operations together.

Professional growth is a cornerstone of the MSIE experience. Drivers are encouraged to develop their technical skills through regular training on safety, vehicle mechanics, and fleet management software. The organization provides a clear pathway for career development, where dedicated individuals can transition into specialized fleet administration or logistics coordination roles as they gain experience and demonstrate leadership.

Ultimately, joining MSIE as a Driver means becoming part of a legacy of healthcare excellence. You will work under the guidance of the Senior Fleet Manager, contributing to a team that values integrity, honesty, and hard work. Your dedication ensures that MSIE remains a reliable partner to the community, facilitating the movement of people and resources that save lives and empower families every single day.
