Job Description
The Durable Solutions Technical Officer will support the daily implementation of a Climate-Sensitive Durable Solutions pilot project in Jigjiga.

The role focuses on helping displaced and host communities move toward sustainable, climate-resilient living conditions.

You will support community-led planning, coordination with authorities, and piloting of climate-resilient services and livelihoods.

This role works across sectors including WASH, Shelter, Education, ICLA, and Protection to ensure integrated programming.

You will help embed climate adaptation, land and tenure considerations, and meaningful participation into all activities.

The position also supports learning, documentation, and evidence generation for future durable solutions programming.

Key Responsibilities
You will lead field-level implementation of project activities.

You will ensure all activities follow NRC protection mainstreaming and safeguarding standards.

You will support integrated, climate-sensitive, and community-led programming.

You will contribute to safe, inclusive, and accountable services for all community members.

You will follow NRC policies, guidance, and procedures at all times.

Specific Duties
You will implement activities according to the log frame, workplan, MEAL plans, and budget.

You will support community-led climate-sensitive pilots on services, land, and tenure engagement.

You will coordinate with WASH, Shelter, Education, ICLA, and Protection teams for integrated delivery.

You will participate in coordination forums and sector working groups.

You will support climate risk assessments using participatory tools such as environmental screening methods.

You will document lessons learned, evidence, and best practices for learning and scale-up.

You will facilitate inclusive community consultations with IDPs and host communities.

You will ensure community feedback mechanisms are active and inform adaptive programming.

You will support development and follow-up of Community Action Plans.

Educational Qualification
A university degree in International Development, Social Sciences, Environmental Studies, or a related field is required.

Work Experience
At least four years of relevant professional experience is required.

Experience in community engagement and participatory planning is essential.

Experience with climate adaptation or environmental risk programming is required.

Experience in durable solutions, recovery, and HDP Nexus programming in the Somali region is an advantage.

Required Skills and Competencies
Strong facilitation and communication skills.

Knowledge of land, housing, and tenure issues is an asset.

Ability to work in hard-to-reach areas.

Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications.

Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.

Job Location
The duty station is Jigjiga, Ethiopia.

Employment Type and Salary
This is a full-time position.
