Job Description
The Project Associate (Nurse) will support the implementation of IOM’s Health, Nutrition, and MHPSS programs in Ethiopia.

The role will be based in Moyale and will work as part of IOM’s Mobile Health and Nutrition Teams.

Under the supervision of the Program Officer-Health, Senior Project Associate-Migration Health, and the Head of Sub Office, the nurse will provide quality primary health care services.

The position contributes to emergency and post-crisis health interventions for migrants, displaced persons, and host communities.

This role is essential for strengthening local health systems and improving access to lifesaving health services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient consultations for early diagnosis and treatment.
  • Facilitate referrals to secondary health facilities when required.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and IDSR morbidity reports.
  • Participate in maternal and child health services and vaccination campaigns.
  • Conduct community health education and awareness sessions.
  • Collaborate with health extension workers for skills sharing.
  • Monitor medicine inventory and report shortages.
  • Ensure proper medical waste management.
  • Maintain confidentiality and quality standards.
  • Build strong relationships with communities and IOM teams.

Educational Qualification
Applicants must hold a university degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.

A valid professional practicing certificate is required.

Work Experience
Candidates must have at least three years of professional nursing experience.

Experience in primary health care, emergency health response, or humanitarian settings is an advantage.

Experience working with migrants, refugees, or displaced populations is highly desirable.

Job Location

Employment Type and Salary
This is a Special Short-Term Graded contract for up to nine months.

The position is classified under Grade G-5. Salary and benefits are provided according to IOM salary scales.
