Job Description

The Development Officer plays a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and managing community development programs that improve the well-being of individuals and communities.

This position serves as a catalyst for positive change by empowering communities to overcome poverty, inequality, and social exclusion.

The role focuses on Saving for Transformation (S4T), education, Empower World View, gender equality, disability and social inclusion (GEDSI), child protection, growth monitoring, and livelihood programs.

You will lead the implementation of integrated development initiatives that support children, families, and local systems.

The Development Officer will ensure that all programs align with organizational strategies, donor requirements, and national development priorities.

You will collaborate closely with community members, local leaders, government offices, and partner organizations to ensure program success.

Educational Qualification

A Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Education, Gender Studies, or a related field is required.

A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline is an added advantage.

Work Experience

A minimum of five years of experience in community development, child protection, education, research, or livelihood programs is required.

Proven experience implementing GEDSI-responsive programs and promoting gender equality and social inclusion is essential.

Experience working with the Ethiopian education system, District Education Offices, Regional Education Bureaus, and schools is highly desirable.

Strong understanding of Saving for Transformation (S4T), Empower World View, and Growth Monitoring Programs.

Excellent project management, monitoring, and evaluation skills.

Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work effectively with diverse communities and stakeholders.

Fluency in English and local languages.
