Job Description
The Project Clerk (Community Worker) will work under the supervision of the Programme Officer in Addis Ababa, the Head of Sub-Office, and Senior Project Associate (Livelihood), implementing daily activities of livelihood projects in Dessie, Ethiopia.

The role is based in the assigned woredas of Wadla and Delanta and focuses on coaching and mentoring business groups, coordinating activities, and reporting progress.

The Project Clerk serves as the primary liaison between project beneficiaries, local administrative bodies, and the livelihood project team.

Key responsibilities include supporting implementation, monitoring, and follow-up of livelihood activities, ensuring alignment with project objectives.

The position requires organizing meetings, workshops, and training sessions for beneficiaries and local stakeholders.

The clerk will assist in facilitating market linkages for individual and group businesses, working closely with sector offices and implementing partners.

They will ensure timely delivery and proper use of start-up capital, reporting any discrepancies to the livelihood team.

The role includes compiling, summarizing, and presenting project data and updates to the Senior Project Associate.

Community engagement, coaching, and mentoring of business groups are essential duties, strengthening the skills and capacity of beneficiaries.

Other responsibilities include responding to information requests, maintaining files, and performing duties assigned by the supervisor.

Educational Qualification
A Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields from an accredited institution is required with at least one year of relevant experience.

Alternatively, candidates with a school diploma and three years of relevant experience may also be considered.

Work Experience
Experience in liaising with government authorities, UN agencies, NGOs, or other institutions.

Hands-on experience working with migrants, refugees, IDPs, victims of trafficking, and vulnerable populations.

Proven experience implementing livelihood projects, including off-farm, on-farm activities, skills training, value chain development, and local market engagement.

Prior work with international humanitarian organizations or multicultural settings is an advantage.

Required Skills and Competencies
Ability to quickly understand local context and environment.

Capacity to manage multiple tasks independently and prioritize effectively.

Strong teamwork, adaptability, and flexibility in a changing environment.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to coordinate and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

Languages
Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French or Spanish is an advantage. Language proficiency will be assessed during the selection process.

Travel Requirements
Travel to project kebeles in Wadla and Delanta woredas will be required.

Employment Type and Salary
Consultancy (up to 11 months) with an initial contract duration of 10 months.
Grade: UG
Consultants are covered against occupational accidents and illnesses under IOM’s Compensation Plan. Non-occupational insurance is the responsibility of the consultant.
